BringBackTheBeat presents Samantha Blackburn
South African born Samantha Blackburn has established herself as one of London’s best female talents to emerge onto the electronic music scene, and has been labelled one “to keep an eye on” by international DJ magazine Mixmag.
Samantha’s DJ career began shortly after her move to London. She’s played at the best underground venues in the city including her debut appearance at London’s famous night club Fabric back in 2012 playing for WYS. She has held a residency with Get Diverted over the past eight years, and played alongside Slam, Josh Wink, Anja Schneider, Mr C, Catz N Dogz, Robert Babicz, DJ T. and Ray Okpara. Abroad she’s played at Time and Area 51 in the Philippines, as well as venues including Truth in South Africa.
Her style has developed from her roots and culture: she fuses rolling percussive house and techno with soulful melodies and atmospheric chimes. In 2016 she released her first EP 'Retrograde' on Mind Ability Records.
Samantha’s brand “Buntu” was born in 2013, and brings together underground DJs with live musicians, visual artists and performers under one roof. The monthly podcast features fresh underground artists from the UK and South Africa, and in 2015 she took her Buntu brand back to South Africa hosting various music production workshops and parties on home soil…
