Drum Heads will play an exciting new set with live electronics, written collaboratively by members of the band with contributions from visiting guest artists.
The senior band within east London-based project Drum Works, Drum Heads write all of their own music collectively, and their beats have a fresh, original sound distinctive to east London. Drum Heads regularly perform around London and further afield.
A Barbican Artistic Associate, Drum Works uses drumming to inspire people creatively, give them confidence in their ideas and empower them to direct their own futures. Around 500 people take part every week through six schools, a community programme in Waltham Forest, two senior bands and an adult group. Fast-paced creative sessions led by professional musicians enable participants from all backgrounds and all levels of musical experience to create something they enjoy and are proud of. Participants can progress in to Drum Heads, and several older members of the project now work as assistant tutors with the Drum Works team, supporting the delivery of the project in schools alongside developing their own skills through training and mentoring.
