Allow 47Soul to introduce you to Shamstep – a term invented by this Palestinian/Jordanian quartet to describe their infectious and genre-defying sound.

The band mix traditional Palestinian music Dabke, with influences from Electronica and Hip-Hop. Add dashes of Reggae and Arabic percussion and you get music that is as powerful as it is danceable. And live, the group are a formidable force, with members El Far3i and Walaa Sbeit alternating on drum machines and live percussion, El Jehaz laying down transcendental guitar lines and Z the People creating driving soundscapes on analog synths. The four members take turn on vocals, delivering lyrics in both Arabaic and English. But no matter the language 47Soul’s music calls for freedom of movement across the world – no matter if it’s on the dance floor or across border checkpoints.
