London African Gospel Choir
The London African Gospel Choir reimagines Paul Simon’s seminal 1986 record Graceland, rejuvenating it with the Gospel sounds which inspired it.
After coming across a bootleg cassette of South African township music in the early 80s, Paul Simon became smitten with the infectious and irresistible rhythms he encountered. He later travelled to Johannesburg, recording with some of the country’s best musicians – the result was his most commercially successful and recognised record to date – Graceland. For this performance the London African Gospel Choir revisits the album over 30 years later, recapturing the unadulterated joy of the original release with their unique rendition.
