Orquesta Akokán

The Cuban genre-melding collective bring their deeply soulful mambo sounds to life.

Straight out of Havana, the ensemble represents a contemporary interpretation of the highly influential mambo scene of Benny Moré and the banda gigantes of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Well-versed in ferocious rhythms and the time-tested musical architectures of Cubano and mambo, their compositional styles also take influence from New York and western music scenes.

Having just released their first Spanish language album, their worldwide presence continues to grow. A collective with young and established musicians alike, their music is just as inclusive, expansive and dynamic as the members of their group.
